kinkyreg: Instrument-free inference for linear regression models with endogenous regressors

چکیده

In models with endogenous regressors, a standard regression approach is to exploit just-identifying or overidentifying orthogonality conditions by using instrumental variables. just-identified models, the identifying assumptions cannot be tested without imposition of other nontestable assumptions. While formal testing restrictions possible, its interpretation still hinges on validity an initial set untestable conditions. We present kinkyreg command for kinky least-squares inference, which adopts alternative identification. By exploiting nonorthogonality in form bounds admissible degree endogeneity, feasible test procedures can constructed that do not require The confidence bands more informative than intervals obtained from instrumental-variables estimation, especially when instruments are weak. Moreover, facilitates sensitivity analysis inference. particular, it allows user assess previously exclusion restrictions. Further instrument-free tests include linear hypotheses, functional form, heteroskedasticity, and serial correlation tests.

Efficiency Bounds for Estimating Linear Functionals of Nonparametric Regression Models with Endogenous Regressors

Let Y = μ∗(X)+ε, where μ∗ is unknown and E[ε|X] 6= 0 with positive probability but there exist instrumental variables W such that E[ε|W ] = 0 w.p.1. It is well known that such nonparametric regression models are generally “ill-posed” in the sense that the map from the data to μ∗ is not continuous. In this paper, we derive the efficiency bounds for estimating certain linear functionals of μ∗ wit...

Optimal Inference in Regression Models with Nearly Integrated Regressors∗

A . This paper considers the problem of conducting inference on the regression coefficient in a bivariate regression model with a highly persistent regressor. Gaussian asymptotic power envelopes are obtained for a class of testing procedures satisfying a conditionality restriction. In addition, the paper proposes testing procedures that attain these power envelopes whether or not the innovation...

Inference regarding multiple structural changes in linear models with endogenous regressors☆

This paper considers the linear model with endogenous regressors and multiple changes in the parameters at unknown times. It is shown that minimization of a Generalized Method of Moments criterion yields inconsistent estimators of the break fractions, but minimization of the Two Stage Least Squares (2SLS) criterion yields consistent estimators of these parameters. We develop a methodology for e...

Censored Regression Quantiles with Endogenous Regressors

This paper develops a semiparametric method for estimation of the censored regression model when some of the regressors are endogenous (and continuously distributed) and instrumental variables are available for them. A “distributional exclusion” restriction is imposed on the unobservable errors, whose conditional distribution is assumed to depend on the regressors and instruments only through a...

Some Identification Issues in Nonparametric Linear Models with Endogenous Regressors

In applied work economists often seek to relate a given response variable to some causal parameter associated with it. This parameter usually represents a summarization based on some explanatory variables of the distribution of , such as a regression function, and treating it as a conditional expectation is central to its identification and estimation. However, the interpretation of as a condit...
